Kristian Sevdari, Ph.D.

SUSALB Founder and General Director

Kristian Sevdari received his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Tirana (2016), M.Sc. from UiT The Arctic University of Norway (2020), and Ph.D. from the Technical University of Denmark – DTU (2024). He is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at DTU, supervising students and leading national and EU research projects. His research focuses on power system dynamics, renewable energy, and electric vehicle grid integration. He is the founder of the IEEE REST conference series, task leader in the IEEE PES Task Force on EV integration, and a member of IEA Task 53 on bidirectional charging interoperability.

Adhurim Haxhimusa, Ph.D.

Adhurim Haxhimusa is a Scientific Project Manager at the Center for Economic Policy Research (ZWF) since September 1. He earned his Ph.D. in Economic and Social Sciences from WU Vienna in 2017, where he worked as a research associate from 2013 to 2019. His research focuses on econometric analysis of EU energy and climate policies, including electricity prices, generation mix, decarbonization, renewables integration, carbon pricing, and market integration.

Alban Kuriqi, Ph.D.

Alban Kuriqi is a researcher in Civil Engineering specializing in renewable energy and water management. He holds a Ph.D. in River Restoration from the University of Lisbon (2021) and degrees in Civil and Hydrotechnical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Tirana, Epoka University, and Grenoble INP. His work focuses on hydropower optimization, river restoration, e-flows, flood and drought management, and AI in water engineering. He has been repeatedly ranked among the World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University.

Fitim Kryezi , Msc

SUSALB Founder and Board member

Fitim Kryezi is Senior Lead for Electrical Design of the North Sea Energy Island at Energinet, where he has worked since 2015. He holds an M.Eng. in Electrical Power Systems and High Voltage Engineering from Aalborg University. He has led and managed HVDC projects, chaired the international MultiDC project, and played a key role in launching the North Sea Wind Power Hub Consortium. He now oversees the electrical design of the North Sea Energy Island.

Valbona Karapici, Ph.D.

Researcher and Project Manager at SUSALB

Valbona Karapici holds a master’s degree from the University of Bologna and a Ph.D. from the University of Bamberg, focusing on electricity market integration in Southeastern Europe. Her research centers on electricity market analysis, liberalization, and regional integration. She has published on energy, macroeconomics, and finance, and has been a lecturer in economics at the University of Tirana since 2006.

Ersi Ago, Msc

Ersi Ago is a power systems engineer with experience at Vestas, Shell, and RH Marine. He specializes in power system modeling, grid integration, compliance, and control using tools like MATLAB, PSS/E, PSCAD, and ETAP. His work spans renewable energy, AI, maritime systems, and power electronics, focusing on optimizing AC/DC grid connections and ensuring system stability under all conditions.

Irisa Sevdari, Msc

Irisa Sevdari holds a master’s degree in Decentralized Smart Energy Systems, with expertise in energy markets, optimization, and data-driven sustainability. With a strong background in Python, MATLAB, and machine learning, she supports Qendra SUSALB in developing innovative solutions for renewable integration, local energy systems, and sustainable development strategies. She is also supporting Qendra SUSALB on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion agenda according to the EU Horizon reccomendations.
